Upon the Wooden Cross

1. Wide open the arms that were nailed to the tree,
   the blood running down from our God who was dying,
   the tightening grip of the pain pierced like needles,
   He hung on the cross and His love was resplendent.

   As they gave Him gall, He looked with compassion.
   They showed Him disdain and love He returned them.
   They played for His clothes as He gave them His life,
   having poured out everything He had left.

   TO SEE JESUS NAILED BOTH JOYFUL AND SUFFERING
   BROKEN COMPLETELY WHILE WHOLE IN HIS ESSENCE.
   THE MOTHER WAS LIVING UNTHINKABLE ANGUISH,
   NOURISHED BY RIVERS OF PRESENCE AND LIFE.

2. Dawn now reveals an impossible scene,
   Jesus is offering His life as a ransom
   for all of the miserable, lost in the darkness;
   the ones who have gone and abandoned their Father.

   The hour has arrived bringing darkness and death,
   the Lord Jesus passes, His life ebbs away.
   However, our hope reignites with new strength,
   for infinite light now beams forth in the darkness.

   AND IF LIFE BY CHANCE GIVES YOU ONE THOUSAND CROSSES
   COUNT IT AS A BLESSING THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED,
   FOR HE WHO HAS DWELT AMONG MEN NOW DRAWS NEAR,
   GIVING HIS LIFE TO GUIDE US TO HEAVEN.

   UPON THE WOODEN CROSS JESUS REMINDS US
   HE STANDS BESIDE US TO HEAL AND CONSOLE.
   HE WILL BE WITH US THROUGH EVERY STORM,
   LORD OF FIDELITY WITHOUT END.

 

ABIERTOS LOS BRAZOS

1. Abiertos los brazos pegados al árbol,
   la sangre corría de Dios que moría,
   sentía apretarse el dolor como dardo,
   clavado en la cruz y su amor que lucía.

   Vinagre le dieron y dulce miraba,
   desprecio mostraban y amor devolvía
   sus ropas jugaban, la vida les daba,
   inerte pendía y ya nada lo ataba.

   AL VERLO CLAVADO Y EN GOZO DOLIENTE,
   QUEBRADO EN TODO, ENTERO EN LA ESENCIA,
   LA MADRE VIVÍA AFLICCIÓN IMPALPABLE,
   REGADA POR RÍOS DE VIDA Y PRESENCIA.

2. El día lloraba la escena imposible,
   Jesús ofreciendo su vida en rescate
   por todos aquellos que son miserables,
   los hombres que habían dejado a su Padre.

   La hora ha llegado y la muerte con ella,
   el Señor ya se muere, la vida se aleja
   pero la esperanza ya brota con fuerza,
   la luz infinita brilla en las tinieblas.
